Home Prep Tips

A well-prepared home photographs beautifully. Use this guide to get every room and outdoor space ready before your photography session — the results will speak for themselves.

First Impressions Start Before the Shutter Clicks

Taking time to prepare your home before the session ensures we capture it at its absolute best. Plan for approximately 30–60 minutes of prep time per room.

  • Remove personal items such as family photos, trophies, and collectibles
  • Clear all surfaces — coffee tables, shelves, and entertainment centers
  • Straighten and fluff all pillows and cushions on sofas and chairs
  • Remove excess furniture to create a sense of open, flowing space
  • Vacuum carpets and sweep or mop hard floors thoroughly
  • Open all blinds and curtains to maximize natural light
  • Turn on all lamps and overhead lights for a warm, bright atmosphere
  • Remove area rugs that appear worn, stained, or overly busy
